Ethel B. Zarko
Age 87, of New Kensington, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born on May 2, 1930, in Creighton, she was the daughter of the late Isadore and Olga (Surmik) Zarko. Ethel was a graduate of East Deer-Frazer High School. She worked as a secretary at Pittsburgh Plate Glass Industries, Creighton and was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, New Kensington. Ethel enjoyed watching game shows on television. Survivors include her brother, Robert (Olga "Jay") Zarko of Twin Lakes, WI; two nephews, Gary (Linda) Zarko of Whitewater, WI and Todd (Jayne) Zarko of Estill Springs, TN and a niece, Maria (Brendan) O'Conner of New York City, NY; several great nieces and nephews, Kate (Bryan) Mead of Champaign, IL, Gregory (Elizabeth) Zarko of Spring Grove, IL, Matthew (Kelsie) Zarko of E. Peoria, IL, and Robert (Stephanie) Zarko of Glen Ellyn, IL; and many cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Lamery. Relatives and friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 in the Paul R. Ajak Funeral Home, Inc., 921 Freeport Road, Creighton. Parting Prayers will be held in the funeral home, Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. A Christian Funeral Mass will follow on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 1125 Leishman Avenue, New Kensington. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Mary Queen of Apostles Catholic School, 110 Elmtree Road, New Kensington, PA 15068.
