Margaret Ann (Foust) Gatty
Age 88, of Frazer Township, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at UPMC East, Monroeville. Born on February 27, 1930 in Oakmont she was the daughter of the late William and Harriett (Innes) Foust. She was a graduate of Oakmont High School Class of 1948. Mrs. Gatty was a lifelong member of Janes United Methodist Church, Creighton. For 17 years, she was a pre-school teacher at the Cheswick Presbyterian Church, and her students adoringly called her "Miss Peg". Her greatest love was being a homemaker, and for her family, who she cherished, her home was everyone's home. Everyone in the family called her "Nanny" and she was the center of the family. Mrs. Gatty was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables and fruit and also liked needlepointing. She also loved taking care of her pets and is survived by her five dogs. Mrs. Gatty always said that her dogs will be waiting for her across the Rainbow bridge. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Farione of Creighton and Laura Gatty (William Dixon) of New Kensington and a son, David (Janie) Gatty of Leechburg; four grandchildren, Gina Farione (Timothy) Waugaman of New Kensington, Joshua Gatty of Frazer Township, Maggie Farione of Creighton and Sarah Gatty of Brackenridge; a great-grandson, Gabriel Schrecengost and two great-granddaughters, Gianna Schrecengost and Isabella Waugaman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Eugene M. "Jeep" Gatty, who passed on June 22, 2014, two infant sons, John Morgan and Todd William; her beloved son-in-law, Joseph Farione, her brother, William Foust II and two sisters, Grace Flett Gray and Harriett "Sis" Kessler. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2018 in the Paul R. Ajak Funeral Home, Inc., 921 Freeport Road, Creighton. Additional visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2018 until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. The Rev. Darlene K. Ryniec will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the West Deer Dog Shelter, 109 E. Union Road, Cheswick, Pa 15024, in her name.
