Clara Patricia (Kozier) Santarlasci
Age 98, of Lower Burrell, formerly of Creighton, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at her son and daughter-in-law’s home where she had been living. Born on February 15, 1925, in Johnston, she was the daughter of the late William and Eleanor (Leja) Kozier.
She moved to Creighton when she was three years old and was a longtime resident. Clara was a Class of 1943 East Deer High School graduate and studied nursing at Citizens General Hospital School of Nursing, New Kensington where she earned her Registered Nurse license. Clara continued her studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and earned her Bachelor of Science Nursing degree in 1957. She served our country as a Nurse Cadet. She worked for the East Deer School District for 19 years as the school nurse and retired from PPG Paints, Springdale as an Industrial nurse for 12 years. Clara was a member of the former Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Creighton and was a member of the Christian Mothers Ladies Guild. She became a member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington. Her memberships also included the former Catholic Daughters of America, Court Price 849 and the Italian Sons and Daughters of America, Arnold. Clara loved gardening, cooking, and caring for others.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Santarlasci, her brothers, Paul, John, Michael, Henry, Walter and Leo Kozier and sisters, Claire Josephine Powell, Bessie Fink, Helen Kozier, Evelyn Walz, and Kathryn Cropcho. Survivors include her sons, Roland Santarlasci of Frazer Township and Scott (Kelly) Santarlasci of Lower Burrell, two granddaughters, four grandsons, and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2023 in the Paul R. Ajak Funeral Home, Inc., 921 Freeport Road, Creighton, PA 15030 where the prayers of transfer will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023 followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.in St. Mary Church, 857 Kenneth Avenue, New Kensington, Pa.15068. The celebrant is Rev. Joel A. Sayson. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Arnold. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Clara's name and mailed to St. Mary of Czestochowa R.C. Church, 100 Freeport Road, New Kensington, PA 15068.
