Of Natrona Heights, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 6, 2023, at the age of 59 at the Wesley Family Services group home located in Leechburg, or, as his family called it, "The Big House." Eric was born in Natrona Heights May 19, 1963, the loving son of Clement and Marianne (Rupert) Moxie. As a "downs" baby, he was welcomed into the world with many emotions, but his father says, "He soon proved why God chose us. He was a loving boy who told us often, “I love you, Mommy and Daddy."
Eric attended Riverview and graduated from the Sunrise School in Monroeville. He was a piece worker for NorthCo Vocational Training Center in Pittsburgh. Eric brought smiles to the faces of all who knew him. He rode shotgun in his dad's van on their (very regular!) trips to McDonald's and Starbucks, while mom had to sit in the back. Eric was young at heart and regularly enjoyed “The Wiggles,” “Barney,” and “Sesame Street.” He loved fire trucks, Snoopy, wrestling and cheering for the marching band at Highlands football games. His favorite pastimes include swimming, watching parades, perusing old photographs and watching cars on the Freeport Road from his front yard. On his dad's retirement, he became a snowbird wintering in Punta Gorda, Fla. He was a "gem" at getting his family special entry to restaurants and Disney World. His father says, "We met many people because of Eric. Friends for life."
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his beloved sisters, Erin Moxie-Dempster, of Cabot, and Kara A. Moxie-Emore, of Westminster, Md.; his cherished niece, Kendall Emore; and nephews, Kyle Dempster, Gavin Emore and Braeden Emore. The family wishes to thank his many caregivers during 10 years at "The Big House:" Amy, Deanna, Arian, Sam, Chris, O.J., Carly and Dianne.
