Richard G. Falter
"Coach"
Age 74, a lifetime resident of Natrona Heights, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born on April 9, 1948 in Natrona Heights and was the son of the late George L. and Rose M. (Horcicak) Falter.
Richard was a graduate of Har-Brack High School, and Point Park University. He retired from Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. Rich was well known for his love of basketball, golf, and most importantly coaching basketball. He began his coaching career with the Scarlet Knights, and later became head coach at St. Joseph High School. He then spent the next 17 years as head coach at Highlands High School. He was the winningest coach in Highlands history with 255 victories including winning the 1995 WPIAL title, the first in school history.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Marlene M. (James) Conroy, He is survived by his nieces and nephews, James Conroy, Patty (Tom) Geiger, Steve (Lizzy) Conroy, Susan Kreutter, and Robert Conroy; also by 6 great nieces and nephews, 3 great-great nephews, and one great-great niece.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 28th at the VFW, 894 Veteran Drive, Natrona Heights, from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions to a charity of your choice.
