Sophie (Nyga) Brucker

Sophie (Nyga) Brucker, 93, formerly of Natrona, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Platinum Ridge Center for Rehabilitation and Healing, Brackenridge.  
 

She was born on March 2, 1928 in Natrona and was the daughter of the late Walter and Blanche (Wisnewski) Nyga. She was a longtime resident of Natrona.  Sophie retired from Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights after 31 1/2 years of working as a hospital escort.  She was a member of Saint Ladislaus Roman Catholic Church, Guardian Angels Parish.  She enjoyed walking, watching television and was an avid gardener.  Sophie loved and lived life to her fullest for her grandson, Gregory.  
 

Survivors include her son, Greg (Darlene) Brucker of Buffalo Township, a grandson, Gregory H. Brucker of Cranberry Township, her nephew, Tom Nyga of Colorado, and her niece, Bethann Nyga of New Kensington.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Frank W. Brucker, who passed away on November 19, 2014 and three brothers, Walter, Victor and John Nyga.  
 

Relatives and friends will be received from 8:30 a.m. until parting prayers at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 27, 2021 in the Paul R. Ajak Funeral Home, Inc., 2 Pine Street and River Avenue, Natrona.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Saint Ladislaus Roman Catholic Church, 48 Spruce Street, Natrona.  Burial will follow in Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
